Bio

Dominic Pechota

Dominic is an experienced trial lawyer who handles cases across the country.  He has been in civil trial practice for 21 years.  He is a managing partner of the firm’s Iowa and Minneapolis offices.

In 2022, Dominic secured two fully collectible excess-policy jury verdicts: a $962,500 verdict in Charles City for an injured Iowan – nearly four times State Farm’s $250,000 policy limits – and a $457,476 verdict in Iowa City for an injured Iowan with a healed, nonsurgical compression fracture, exceeding State Farm’s $75,000 top pre-trial offer by more than six times.  Also in 2022, Dominic and his law partner, Nick Rowley, secured a $10 million settlement for the family of a migrant worker who died after being engulfed in soybeans at an Iowa grain facility that failed to comply with OSHA regulations.  In 2016, Dominic and his law partner, Rod Ritner, obtained a $1.2 million verdict – the largest civil injury verdict in Winneshiek County (Decorah) – against Farm Bureau Property & Casualty.  In the last nine years, Dominic has obtained in excess of $125 million dollars (actually collected) in personal injury and medical malpractice verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients.

Dominic earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Nebraska – at Lincoln, receiving dual degrees in English and Political Science. He then attended law school at the University of Iowa College of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate and completed a judicial externship with former federal Chief Judge, the Honorable Ronald E. Longstaff, United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa. He is admitted to practice law in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and South Dakota. He has been admitted to practice law upon permission in courts in Arkansas, Missouri, West Virginia, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Illinois. Dominic previously served on the board of governors for the Iowa Association of Justice (formerly the Iowa Trial Lawyers Association).

Dominic was born in Martin, South Dakota, and raised in Rapid City.  In his spare time, Dominic enjoys coaching youth basketball, golfing, and fishing.
