Janek Kazmierski

My first job as a lawyer was at a small firm in a small town. During this time, I served clients in a wide variety of civil and criminal matters and gained valuable experience in the courtroom. I enjoyed getting to know my clients and guiding them through the legal process. After nine years, I decided to join a much larger plaintiff’s firm. It was during this time that I had the opportunity to focus my practice on representing people that were severely injured. When I met Kenneth Berger and the opportunity to learn more about his firm, I knew that I found the right place for me to practice law. A close-knit group of lawyers who are passionate about serving their clients and the community. 

When I am not practicing law, I am with my family. My wife Christie and I have a son, Gabriel, and a daughter, Eveliina and three dogs that keep us busy. We enjoy spending our time exploring the beautiful and unique places that South Carolina offers. Of special interest to us are the mountains of the upstate, where we enjoy hiking, camping and fishing. When not in the woods exploring, I enjoy reading and playing chess.

Symone Kimelman

As a child, I always heard adults say, “Life is not fair.” The acceptance of inevitable unfairness…didn’t seem fair. Over time, I realized that people had a better chance of achieving a just outcome when their voices were heard. As a first-generation attorney, I chose to go to law school because I wanted to help people navigate the complexities of the legal system and give a voice to those who would otherwise go unheard.

After graduating from the University of North Texas, I attended law school in Minnesota, where I received my J.D. from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. During my law school career, I became a top 10 national ranking member of the mock trial team, and I served on the executive board for the Latino Law Student Association. I simultaneously served my community as a certified student prosecutor for two years at the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office, where I spent half of my experience drafting and arguing Criminal Appeals, and the other half arguing felony cases. The most rewarding part of my role at the County Attorney’s Office was knowing that I helped give justice to victims and helped safeguard our community.

That rewarding feeling has carried over to my role here at the Law Office of Kenneth Berger. I am proud to be part of our team because I know our firm’s core values resonate with my own. I know every case we handle is fueled by a passion for bringing justice to those who have been harmed and the rewarding feeling of making the community a safer place.

After leaving the County Attorney’s Office, I worked as a Staff Attorney for a District Court Judge. In this role, I broadened my experience by analyzing legal issues from multiple areas of the law. As a Staff Attorney, I gained a unique “behind the bench” perspective where I learned which arguments resonated with a judge and which arguments were persuasive to jurors. I keep this perspective in mind for all aspects of my work advocating for injured people here at the Law Office of Kenneth Berger.

When I am not at work, I spend time with my husband and our two dogs. My husband and I try to make time for our hobbies, which include traveling, swimming, and our newly acquired hobby of Latin dance
